Prairie Flame earrings

Some stones are worth the wait.
 
These Crazy Lace Agate beauties were among the first I collected at the Tucson Gem Show over two years ago — before I even fully called myself a metalsmith. I pulled them out many times, sketched ideas, started settings… but nothing felt quite right. Until now.
 
Set in warm copper bezels with open backs, these stones finally found their perfect setting. The open backing allows light to shine through the agate, highlighting the delicate striations and the soft, rusty copper vein running through each stone. The mixed metals — copper and silver — reflect the desert palette that lives inside the stone itself.
